Klokbox is an innovative web and mobile app designed for secure estate planning, addressing property disputes following sudden deaths. Entrusted by the Irish Government, the app facilitates secure will writing for users, ensuring proper property distribution, and offers a secure space for storing vital business information and passwords. Klokbox further includes a feature for planning funeral wishes and recording memories, providing peace of mind to users and their loved ones.
Challenges
Klokbox encountered significant issues with its initial software team, facing scalability and security challenges. Consequently, they initiated a ground-up rebuild of the platform with our team to better cater to user needs.
A critical requirement was ensuring the project’s compliance with HIPAA and GDPR regulations. A primary concern was establishing a highly secure platform capable of safeguarding sensitive user data from leaks before their demise. The client aimed to explore solutions enhancing app functionality and user experience while ensuring the platform’s scalability to accommodate multiple concurrent users.
Solutions
Our team effectively addressed the challenges by implementing a comprehensive set of solutions. To enhance platform security, encryption was applied to both data storage and server communication. Employing Terraform, the team ensured restricted access to user data from the development team while securely deploying and maintaining compliance with HIPAA and GDPR regulations.
To mitigate data leaks, advanced encryption algorithms were used for encrypting all sensitive information, and SSL/TLS protocols secured calls to the server. The platform was strategically designed for scalability, accommodating multiple concurrent users seamlessly.
Furthermore, the team optimized app functionalities by implementing more efficient algorithms for data processing, enabling faster information retrieval.
